Project Overview - This project included the replacement of the school’s steam boiler system with a hot water boiler system, unit ventilators and convectors. Kappa also installed a VRF system for the administrative wing, (14) exhaust fans, (3) RTUs, (20) ceiling fans and associated ceiling fan pockets and ceilings throughout common areas and offices.
Children's Learning Center Mechanical and Fire Protection Systems Replacement @ Brookdale Community College

Project Overview - This project included the replacement of 5 DX/Duct Furnace systems with a full-building VRF system and associated Duct Furnaces in addition to the replacement of the full-building fire suppression system, sewer grinder pump and exhaust fans.
Robbins Elementary School HVAC Improvements

Project Overview - This project included the replacement of a steam boiler system with VRV and DOAS systems. This project was one of Oxygen-8’s first DOAS x VRV installations in the country.
The architectural work on this project included sawcutting of shafts for ductwork, abatement and installation of GWB soffits and acoustical ceilings in common areas and offices.
Mechanical Ventilation and Ionization Upgrades to the Woodrow Wilson Elementary School

Project Overview - This project included the replacement of classroom unit ventilators and installation of associated condensing units and refrigerant piping in addition to the installation of a new gym rooftop unit and associated gas piping and the replacement of a large air handler serving the basement area.

Project Overview - This project included HVAC Upgrades at two schools: Lincoln ES & Thomas Jefferson MS. Kappa Construction completely demolished the aging steam heating system at LES and replaced it with a high-efficiency hot water heating system complete with a brand new boiler plant and unit ventilators with matching metal shelving in each classroom. Thomas Jefferson MS included the replacement of the old boiler room equipment with a modular boiler/pump skid, as well as replacement of classroom unit ventilators and fin tube enclosures.

Project Overview - This project included the removal and replacement of boiler plant piping and specialties for (3) boilers, replacement of (1) boiler, installation of HW/DX self-contained UVs, rooftop units and split systems. This project included a significant amount of asbestos abatement and classroom shelving as well as flooring and ceiling replacements.

Project Overview - This project included the conversion of an existing steam boiler plant into hot water heat using a new heat exchanger plant as well as all new hot water piping in the crawl space beneath the school. Each classroom received a new unit ventilator and associated condensing unit, with larger communal spaces being served by new rooftop units. Kappa Construction installed 57 unit ventilators & associated condensers, 27 rooftop units, exhaust fans and cabinet heaters.

Project Overview - This project included the installation of 22 VRF systems consisting of 162 evaporators and 22 condensing units. Other equipment installed as part of this project include: 4 RTUs, miscellaneous split systems and fans.
This project is featured as part of Inaba-Denko's AHR exposition for its use of RD-Slim Duct enclosures for all exterior refrigerant piping.
HVAC & Sprinkler Upgrades to Passaic County Jail - phase 2

Project Overview - Project included full HVAC, Electrical, and Sprinkler System overhauls to the Main and Marshall Street complex facilities within the Passaic County Jail.
Perth Amboy HS HVAC Upgrades
Approximate Cost - $5.5 million

Project Overview - Kappa Construction installed a state-of-the-art chilled water plant consisting of two chillers, a pre-manufactured pump house and 11 partially-buried ice-storage tanks. This project also included the installation of 22 VRF systems, consisting of 41 condensing units and 210 evaporators. Other equipment installed as part of this project: 72 exhaust fans, 7 replacement heating coils and 3 air handlers.
General construction associated with this project included excavation and trenching to allow for partial burial of ice-storage tanks, concrete and steel installation for chiller & pump house installation and new asphalt paving in this area.
This project was featured in ASHRAE's April 2016 Thermogram that included a tour of the facility with local industry leaders.
