New Multipurpose Room & Lobby Addition and Administration Renovations at Thomas jefferson middle school, edison township

Cost - $13 Million

Overview - Kappa completed the transformative project at TJMS during a fully active academic year. Scope included a new gym and stage, offices, restrooms, and secure entrance; existing gym/locker upgrades; boiler, HVAC, and power upgrades; interior/exterior finishes in existing spaces including cafeteria and corridor spaces; asbestos abatement; ADA and life safety upgrades; full site and utility improvements.

    Trenton Central High School Boiler House Renovation / Alteration

    Approximate Cost - $5 Million

    Owner - Trenton Board of Education

    Location - Trenton, New Jersey

    Project Type - Educational

    Completion - October 2021

    Project Overview - Project included complete gut of existing boiler house building including select interior slabs, walls, structural steel, and other alterations required to change the use for the former boiler house building at the Trenton Central High School. Work included creation of 22,000 SF of usable space within the former boiler house building, requiring the installation of new footings to accommodate new structural steel floor framing and concrete slabs for two new floor levels, egress stairs, and elevator shaft in addition to completely new electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and architectural systems throughout. The fit out spaces include standard and science lab classrooms, bathrooms, offices, teachers lounges, and storage spaces. Exterior improvements including new storm, water, electrical, and fire services in addition to new sidewalks and parking spaces.

      Trenton ninth Grade Academy Renovation / Alteration

      Approximate Cost - $6 Million

      Owner - Trenton Board of Education

      Location - Trenton, New Jersey

      Project Type - Educational

      Completion - October 2021

      Project Overview - Project included renovation and alteration of a previously unoccupied warehouse space to accommodate new classroom spaces. Exterior work included modification of a portion of the existing roof structure to raise the roof elevation, and construction of new corridors connecting two stair towers at the second level. Interior work included structural demolition, new structural concrete footings and structural steel to accommodate two new floor systems within the existing building shell and a new roof system. Interior fitout included new architectural, mechanical, electrical, fire, and plumbing systems for the 10 new classrooms and Electrical/IT rooms.

        Deal elementary school science wing addition

        Project Completion - April 2021 

        Project Overview - Project included construction of a 6,500 SF one story wood frame, slab-on-grade addition with sloped wood roof trusses. The addition contains new standard and STEM classrooms, a greenhouse, guidance office, conference room, and bathrooms.

          Neptune DPW & Emergency Management Facility

          Approximate Cost - $4 Million

          Owner - Neptune Township

          Location - Neptune, New Jersey

          Project Type - Municipal

          Completion - October 2020

          Project Overview - Project included site clearing and preparation for the construction of a ground up new 18,000 SF wood frame building including site work, concrete, masonry, elevators, plumbing, fire alarm, HVAC, electrical, and phone/data systems. The new building was constructed to house offices, kitchens, locker rooms, and lounges for the Neptune Township Department of Public Works and Operations/Emergency Management Staff.

            ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS MARINA FACILITY

            Approximate Cost - $1.5 Million

            Owner - Borough of Atlantic Highlands

            Location - Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey

            Project Type - Municipal

            Completion - October 2020

            Project Overview - Project included construction of a two story 4,400 SF building, including space for two garages housing public restroom trailers, and Tow Boat and State Police offices.

              Addition & Alterations to Long Branch Historic HS

              Approximate Cost - $6.5 Million

              Owner - Long Branch Board of Education

              Location - Long Branch, New Jersey

              Project Type - Educational

              Completion - August 2019

              Project Overview - Project included the complete renovation of all second floor classrooms and offices, auditorium, and gymnasium of the Historic Long Branch High School. An addition for gym storage space was also completed as part of the project. Work also included repointing and brick masonry/cast stone repairs on the entire building facade. Kappa also converted the building conditioning system from heating-only to dual-temperature by installing a chiller and replacing coils in all existing unit ventilators.

                Manasquan hs addition & Renovations

                Approximate Cost - $7 Million

                Owner - Borough of Manasquan

                Location - Manasquan, New Jersey

                Project Type - Educational

                Completion - January 2019

                Project Overview - Project included demolition of a section of the existing high school to make way for a 26,000 SF, two story masonry addition. Work included new deep footings, foundations, waterproofing, MEP/FP, AV, and other structural/architectural systems required to provide all new science and STEM lab classrooms. Work also included HVAC and sprinkler upgrades to the main gym and an automated greenhouse.

                  Interior renovations @ Janice Levin Hall - Rutgers University

                  Approximate Cost - $500,000

                  Owner - Rutgers University

                  Location - New Brunswick, New Jersey

                  Project Type - Higher Education

                  Completion - May 2018

                  Project Overview - Project included demolition of all existing finishes and MEP systems in various classrooms and a breakroom, and installation of new wall assemblies, doors, ceilings, flooring, acoustical treatments, MEP systems, and visual displays. 

                    NJ Natural Gas Storm Hardening Project

                    Approximate Cost - $2 Million

                    Owner - New Jersey Natural Gas

                    Location - Ship Bottom, New Jersey

                    Project Type - Industrial

                    Completion - June 2018

                    Project Overview - Project included construction of a gas regulator station building for NJNG. Project included reconstruction of the existing exposed regulator station damaged during Hurricane Sandy, which was a critical facility for the natural gas infrastructure within the Borough of Ship Bottom. The new regulator station contained a raised gas service equipment with platform and drive-in bay with service crane for future needs.

                      Neptune Middle School Additions & Alterations

                      Approximate Cost - $9 Million

                      Owner - Neptune Board of Education

                      Location - Neptune, New Jersey

                      Project Type - Educational

                      Completion - September 2017

                      Project Overview - Project included renovations and additions to the school, requiring a multi-phase approach to accommodate an active building with students and staff. Additions included space for guidance offices and health classrooms, gym storage, and gym offices. Project also included renovation of two main existing lockers rooms, full renovation of two existing gyms including new gym floor systems and gym equipment/bleachers, all notable MEP/FP systems throughout.
